Hello everyone!! Please see below details of our short play showcase for the Drama Festival!
L5 dual-honours students have put together 4 10-15 minute performances, each of which have been written and directed by ourselves. The scripts were originally written in a script workshop module in semester 1, but have since been developed and perfected for the festival!
There is a common theme of darkness and bleakness in a couple of the pieces, with some themes surrounding sexual assault and grooming. Please do not hesitate to email us and ask for more details on this prior to coming.
Here is a sneak peak at each piece…
COST by Lucy Andrews
Sophie has been getting a lot of new things recently: expensive perfume, new make up and jewellery. As Beth and Sophie reveal their teenage secrets over a bottle of vodka, Beth discovers that these items came with a greater cost than it seems. Truly encapsulating the beauty of teenage friendship, the two girls joke, and try to pretend they don’t find the taste of vodka disgusting. However, the jokes and laughter take a turn, when Beth discovers Sophie‘s relationship with a much older man named Ben.
TW- mentions of sexual assault and grooming.
